Hello Everyone,

I'm running a half marathon to kickstart fundraising, to help build a website and app to create a more relevant forum for men in mental health following my own experiences working in the creative industry.

Here's my story...

Two years ago I was commuting to my job in West London. It’s the same journey I had done for over 2 years.

Not far from my usual stop, I had a complete breakdown. It was uncontrollable and very public. I got off the train and called my wife, who calmed me down, and then I went into work, like nothing had happened. That, of course, was a mistake and I now understand that moment was a serious episode of my mental health. After almost 10 years in the industry, working tirelessly, the wheels came off...

Suffering from symptoms of anxiety, depression and sleep disorders, I have worked hard to improve my overall health and happiness - with the help of some amazing people and healthcare professionals along the way.

It’s been incredibly hard at times but throughout all of this 2 things stuck out:

Firstly - the information and advice is scattered all over the place, finding a like minded voice was hard. Who’s right, or wrong, what’s best for me - where can I actually go a see or speak to someone that understands the feeling.

Secondly - the number of men my age going through something similar in this space is staggering. Either coming with amazing support and first hand experience, or the opposite, feeling like me, with no sense of where to go.

The greatest step forward for me, was and still is meeting like minded people who can support, share or just do something fun, together. I’ve become closer to some friends and have a new appreciation for the importance of love and community needed in mental health.

This story took me a few minutes to write, but it’s taken years to share.

Now, I've launched Love Brother, as a platform and community to improve the support for the men in mental health. We want to do as much as we can to build some space for people to come together.
