Final overseas journey for my mom

My mom Marie Zein is 89 years old and will soon be 90 in February 2019. She lives in Vancouver, Canada, is in great health but starting to forget and to confuse things a little. I promised to bring her over to France to visit as her last journey overseas so we can spend a quality month together as a family, as well as to show her around Beziers (Languedoc) — a region she’s never seen. I tried earlier in the summer but the flights were expensive so I had to ask her to wait. Now we managed to buy her a non-refundable ticket from Vancouver to London for £580.00. Unfortunately, my retired husband and I suffered a setback in August when our old van had two consecutive breakdowns that cost us €1000 and that stopped our mom’s project dead in its tracks.

I still need to buy my mom proper travel insurance which is exorbitant because of her age at £770.00 including travel interruption which is important in her case. Additionally, to bring her to Beziers, France from Gatwick on Easy jet, the ticket price is £200 return. Transportation to all these airports, home round trip is also a burden as she gets too tired to be on tubes to get to airports etc so we have to take taxis.

This is meant to be a joyous journey for her and for us and I am so stressed and embarrassed that I need extra help at this moment. We are retired and on fixed income. My way of supporting my mom was always to take her on travels and give her the best memories.

Time is of the essence considering her age, I cannot possibly expect her to visit me in the future. I appreciate your time listening to my story and I am grateful for any help you offer to help get this project to fruition. With thanks.
