Story
The Bristol Bisons are an IGR (Inclusive and Gay Rugby) team based (unsurprisingly) in Bristol, representing the South West. This year will will be attending the IGR European Championships in Dublin in June, and hope to send 2 teams. This is a sign of the exponential growth of the club, whose numbers were less than twenty 2 years ago. In order to achieve this we need to fund-raise about £20,000. So, in an effort to do my bit, I shall be attempting to row (on an indoor rowing machine) the distance between Bristol and Dublin (325 kilometres) in the month of March.
Why row? Because I'm old and liable to get injured and rowing is something that doesn't make my ongoing injuries worse! You will be able to follow my progress, and my distances will be logged and verified via the Concept 2 rowing logbook, meaning I cannot cheat! To put this into context the most I have managed in a month before is 91km.
All donations gratefully recieved on behalf on the Bisons, who you can follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

5 years agoAnother landmark passed - the 200k is up (202.5 to be precise). Points of interest wise there's not much as I'm now in the Irish sea (16k off the Welsh coast at Aberdaron to be exact) with about 120k of sea left to cover. Total time is now 12 hours, 49 minutes and 34 seconds. Unfortunately forgot to take a horrible photo this time (you lucky people)! Thanks for the continued support - keep sharing and sponsoring please!

5 years agoBIG ROW UPDATE! Today I hit kilometre 162.5 - that's exactly half way! Or, in other words, the point at which turning back would be pointless. So after 10 hours, 13 minutes and 59 seconds me and my virtual boat (might have to think of witty name for it) are somewhere in the middle of the Irish Sea and Dublin bound! As ever thank you to all and all who have shared and / or sponsored and for those who haven't...it's not too late!

5 years agoAnother 20 km done this weekend, so we've passed the 1 third of the way they mark (115 km down). Disappointingly in the middle of darkest Wales with no landmarks to mark the occasion! Thanks for all your support again
