Story
My beautiful mum, Lisa Taylor, and I will be completing this challenge in October 2019 in support of the Regain charity. They help to support sport tetraplegics to live independent and fulfilled lives, whilst maintaining sport. We thought that this would be an appropriate charity to support following all of the challenges that my mum has had to go through over the last 3 years to get back in to sport after her back surgeries. Mum is very eager to get back to her fitness levels and Regain has helped her to realise just how lucky she is when there are so many others who are far less fortunate. Mum has decided to set up a series of challenges throughout the year, starting with the Cambridge Half Marathon in March and finishing with this 400km cycle around Kenya in October. We will set off on the day of Mum's 50th Birthday! Which is my reason for completing this with her. My mum has been an inspiration to me to get back into fitness. Her strength and determination to be as fit and healthy as ever, after so many downfalls, is heartening and I would not miss such an unbelievable journey to Africa with her. This will mark the start of my year of travelling and I can't imagine starting my journey with anyone else by my side.
We will be funding the travel and accommodation expenses ourselves. So all of the money that we raise will go straight to the charity itself.
