CAIM project is going to Northern France on the 8th of March 2019 to deliver sexual violence training to volunteers and professionals who are part of the charity 'Help Refugees'. We will be running three training sessions in the Dunkirk/Calais area.

We are also hoping to provide as many protection alarms as possible for those on camp who feel at risk of sexual violence - £1,000 = 500 alarms! We have added £150 on top of this to go towards the tools needed to facilitate the training for 50+ staff members. The majority of these alarms will be donated to the women and children’s centre based in Dunkirk.

Protection alarms are subtle devices (key ring size) that are designed to be clipped to bags or clothing to offer security for the wearer. The purpose of protection alarms is to shock and disorientate an attacker, giving the person time to flee the situation.

Survivors of sexual violence can sometimes feel unsafe going outside due to potential future attacks. We believe no one should need to alter their lives, change their behaviour or carry self-defence alarms to protect themselves, however we know these alarms make survivors feel secure and able to go out in public. This is vital for refugees on camps - they need to feel safe enough to collect aid, go to the toilet and be able to sleep.
