In August this year our family nearly lost our Nan due to her suddenly becoming very poorly and being in intensive care for a number of weeks at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.

Whilst under their care, in order to stay alive she required the use of an ECMO. An ECMO is a temporary life support system for people whose lungs have stopped functioning. An ECMO is a last resort when breathing problems could not be managed by other methods of breathing support such as ventilators.

Due to there being a small amount of these available at St Thomas’ Hospital, our family friend Sheree Murphy is doing the Boxing Day Dip to raise funds for the ECMO Department.
