Hello Family and Friends.

I’m running the Great Bristol 10k in May this year after having a few prods and pokes from some of you over the last couple of years. I am a casual jogger so this will require a good amount of training on my behalf.

When thinking about which charity to run for I did have a couple in mind that were close to my heart.

However, after learning some extremely sad news very recently within our family I’ve decided that my cousin Narissa and her family could really do with as much support as possible.

Here is a little bit about her story.

In 2015, at the age of 30 Narissa was diagnosed with invasive grade 3 breast cancer. She underwent intensive surgery and therapy and with her strength and determination she beat the cancer and went into remission.

She was able to return to normal life with her husband Nic and their 2 beautiful children, who are now 13 and nearly 11.

In 2017, Narissa was given the devastating news upon her first year review scan that she had developed the disease in her liver and also had bone metastases. She was also given the result of having the BRCA-2 gene mutation.

Narissa again underwent further tests, investigations, treatments and multiple hospital admissions in a bid to fight the disease. She remained strong and kept fighting despite being very unwell.

Sadly, Narissa and her family have now been told that there is not much more in the way of treatment but keep her pain managed and has been admitted to St.Peters Hospice.

I’m hoping that with the support from family and friends we can raise some money for her to enjoy some memorable family experiences as time is of the essence.

To give them this chance would mean the world to not only myself but more importantly them as a family.

Narissa has always worked hard in life, usually maintaining 2 jobs along side Nic who is a full time chef and raising their children.

Her family are her life!
