Story
It costs £6000 a month to, house feed, clothe, educate Mama Upendo's 80 children in Kenya each month. It doesn't sound much but the UK based charity has a hand to mouth existence.
At present Kitui is experiencing drought and without money for drinking water the children have to drink contaminated water.
A group of 6th form students have just returned from Kitui having taken much needed clothes, shoes, blankets and sanitary wear out. The problems the children face are massive, just to survive.
There is no money for drinking water, any food other than rice and beans , school fees (an education is their only route out of poverty). There isn't enough money for mosquito nets, beds, or cover the rent let alone bills.
Many of the children have suffered severe sexual and physical abuse yet despite this they have been doing well at school. They deserve a chance of a good life. Without help that chance will be taken away from them.

I became involved in this charity after visiting Kenya in 2017. Having raised my own family it was a shock to me how children survive in the face of I decided to try and support children who because of where they were born, have endured unbelievable hardship.
