Blank Canvas Mission has a vision to provide a multi purpose, mobile facility, equipped to provide value, self worth and dignity wherever needed.
Originally I was thinking of following the trend and getting a bus, when I had the revelation that a converted 7.5 ton horse box would be far more beneficial and practical.
Not only does it come with a built in living area, making it ideal to not only go anywhere, sit and make someone a cup of tea, or a bacon sandwich. But also can be driven without additional licence being required.
The vision is to use the back space as a mobile drop in facility, a cafe, where local agencies can be available to offer advice/support. A localised food bank, supporting those who can't reach the established ones. And either a small group meeting place or a platform upon which a marquee would be attached for larger events. Also it will be used as a mobile resturant facility, where the rough sleepers can sit and enjoy an evening meal in dignity and privacy.
The idea of such a mobile facility removes the need for a static building and the limitations that come with that. It enables the message of value and worth to be delivered further along with the practical aid such a space can provide.
Blank Canvas Mission is a Christian based outreach mission, but excludes no one. It is founded on the belief that all are equal in value and worth, regardless of gender, sexuality, race, culture, situation, circumstance, social standing or religion. Myself as Chaplain to the Streets in Northampton believe that when an individual receives the revelation of his/her worth, regains self respect and purpose, it not only changes how they see themselves but also how they see others. And that's the foundation for ending poverty, hate, abuse, deprevation, inequality and crime.
By being a part of this venture, in the equipping and enabling of this vision, we can all be a part of seeing a smile spread across this nation.
