    Story

We are a really friendly, totally inclusive and low-cost choir who sing for fun, health and happiness, where no-one is judged on their singing ability and everyone is warmly welcomed in a relaxing and supportive environment. Some of our members have a range of health issues but all of us reap the health benefits singing can give you from reducing anxiety and stress to improving lung capacity and heart health. Most of all though, singing together simply makes you feel good and we’d love to do more local charity and community events to entertain and encourage more people to sing!

To do that though we need our own mobile keyboard and equipment, so we are trying to raise money to buy them so we can accept more of the many invitations we’re now receiving from charities, schools, libraries and community venues to help spread the joy you get from singing and listening to live singing. We’d be so grateful if you could help with us a donation of any amount, no matter how small, and we really appreciate how much this means when someone takes the time and trouble to donate to a cause such as ours.

Connect community choir was set up in memory of our friend Kath who found that singing helped her cope with the effects of her terminal illness. Kath wanted a ‘life-enhancing choir where everyone feels welcomed and valued regardless of their singing ability’ and we now have over fifty brilliant members who come together every Tuesday morning to do just that, under the guidance of Phill Fairhurst, our fantastic Musical Director, to sing in friendship and enjoy the songs and laughter, which is exactly what she wanted.

We try to break down any barrier that may prevent people from coming together to sing including cost (donations of £1 - £3 are encouraged but not obligatory), accessibility (local community venue on bus routes), a nervousness or a lack of confidence (we are really welcoming and friendly and understand how difficult it can be to take that first step into a room where you don’t know anyone), or a fear of not being able to sing ‘well enough’ in public (no auditions, no judgments, no comments – just lots of inspiration and encouragement).

Connect Community Choir meets every Tuesday morning from 10 to 11.30 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish Centre, 63 St Albans Road in St Annes-on-Sea, Lancashire, FY8 1XD. All welcome! Or contact us through our new twitter account: @ConnectMore4 Thank you for reading about us.
