Donna Beaton is a former Coop colleague. In 2012 Donna was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease (HD) and stopped working in 2015 due to illness progression. Donna's partner is a full time Store Manager in a local Coop at McDonald Road Edinburgh and is Donna's full time carer.

HD is a complex condition with symptoms that typically begin to develop between the ages of 30 and 50. It causes three main groups of symptoms: changes to thinking processes - a type of early onset dementia, loss of muscle control and involuntary movements. Those impacted by HD may eventually lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, drink or make decisions and will eventually need 24 hour care. It is also hereditary with each child of those diagnosed at 50% risk developing the disease. There is no cure.

Donna requires the use of a wheelchair when leaving the house and we are raising money to acquire a new electric wheelchair to aid her transport and make things easier for her partner Roan.
