Iʼve raised £260 to create a sterile room for Kidney Dialysis equipment. This is for an End Stage Kidney patient with Arthritis and other medical complications.

Funded on Sunday, 5th January 2020

    Story

Karen found from being on dialysis before her (now failing) Kidney transplant that she is unable to have Haemodialysis at hospital due to fits from the solutions used. Therefore she will need to do peritoneal dialysis at home 4 times a day. The room we are planning for would have to be sterile and organised fairly quickly as it is increasingly likely that it will be needed for dialysis equipment very soon. (End stage Renal or Kidney failure means it is inevitable Dialysis will be required till a donor is found).

I have attempted in the past to get permission from the council to build a small extension myself but they have refused permission. The options I have are... See if the council change there mind if a professional builder is quoted. If permission was granted this would involve knocking down existing leaking porch and building a small extension. Or, if permission is refused, as is likely due to it being a shared communal garden, the only other option would be moving somewhere with the extra room that is required.

Thanks to some help from some very good friends and selling some of my possessions I now only need to raise approx 18K. I have tried to borrow but having 2 part time jobs is not a plus point in my negotiations. If any kind people would like to lend the money instead of giving please contact me, as I would jump at that instead and I would do my best to repay them in good time (probably between about 5 and 10 years). The trouble is due to having 2 part time jobs (one of which is under threat of redundancy) and an increasingly ill wife, I can't make heroic promises...

Karen has End Stage Kidney failure, she also suffers from Osteoarthritis, Raynauds and other medical conditions. She loves art and already has very little room to be creative. It is inevitable that she will need a space for dialysis in the very near future. Preparations to make adequate room for the dialysis equipment and bags of solution will be very difficult with the limited space available and would also mean she would no longer have any room to be creative. We hope that any donations or loans made will help to fund the build of a warm comfortable and sterile space for her needs. We are grateful for any support to make this possible.
