As a family we are asking you to climb two peaks and the third one we will do as a nursery community.

We will launch the challenge w/c 25th March with the aim of families achieving their 2 peaks by Friday 3rd May. On Saturday 4th May you will then be invited to join us at the Dumpling in Gartocharn https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochlomond/duncryne.shtml
which we will climb (Weather permitting) and at the top have a picnic. We are hoping that this day will allow us to come together to celebrate our achievements as a community.

Why are we promoting this?

• To raise awareness of the importance of keeping fit and having a healthy lifestyle.

• To improve children’s fitness and energy levels.

• To enable children to develop confidence and have a sense of pride/ achievement.

• To encourage children to develop resilience, perseverance and become determined to succeed.

• To provide a fun, family, friendly initiative that includes everyone within the household.

• To encourage children to enjoy outdoors.

Research has recently highlighted the need to encourage our children to be more active, as more and more children have sedentary lifestyles, which can have a negative impact on health and well-being. Research also suggests that children may eat and sleep better after physical activity.
