    Story

Frankie Hickman and Dan Edwards will be running up and down Snowdon twice consecutively On the 17th November. As we are both currently in training for this, a total distance of 15 miles doesn't sound to bad. But the incline will be approximately 4,744 feet in total... We are aiming to raise £300 but we will continue to raise more if our target gets reached. As the charity we are running for is fairly small we know this will make a huge difference.

The origin of this Challenge came from both of our passion and personal connections with mental health.

Frankie's perspective. About 18 months ago was when i was first exposed to anxiety. I had previously known anxiety was an issue but never seemed to grasp what it actually was. until a conversation with my non biological brother Dan Edwards. He educated me of what physical feelings and thoughts could show anxiety and gave me an instant realisation that i had experienced a lot of social anxiety. I felt quite embarrassed as a then as a dancer in training and still do as a professional now. I was supposed to be confident and would generally have to be quite socially engaged most of the time. So i did start to speak but not about anxiety it was only recently i began that conversation. I avoided anxiety, it was getting the better of me and i blamed everything under the sun before i accepted that. Why? Because thats what men do don't they ? They hide it, suppress it, change the topic, cover it up with the worlds strongest tape. The kind of tape that says "I'm Fine". It doesn't need to be shouted out or billboarded its just a conversation. Just like any other mental health issue, for me it starts with a conversation. If you have took the time to read this, it is very much appreciated. Also as an extra challenge i will be running in fancy dress. Costume to be confirmed...

Dans perspective: Having suffered with OCD and anxiety for many years, I never told anyone and kept it all to myself (thinking I was going mad). Until one day, it all became too much and I broke down severely. I felt alone, lost and in despair. I needed help. Luckily I decided to seek it, and it has put me in the great place that I'm in today. However, with stigma that mental Health/ wellbeing has in society. There are many people suffering that won't ask for help, with the fear of being judged. My hope with this fundraiser is to not only raise money for charity, but to spread the Word. That people that are in a dark place, should feel that they can speak up and get something done about it.

Changes Tamworth is a charity that helps people of all ages seeking mental health/wellbeing support. This support encounters different topics some of which are anger management, wellbeing support, one to one support, motivation workshops and peer support groups. The importance to create a supportive environment has never been more significant. As the UK is seeing the highest killer in Men being suicide, and around the globe approximately 300 million people with depression. Just those two statements alone are frighting. This conversation of topic is an ever growing conversation and will continue to help and save people along the way.
