So as some of you may know my little Sister Nicola (29) was diagnosed with breast cancer back in May whilst on maternity leave having just brought my beautiful niece, Grace, into the world. Grace is awesome, she just eats everything and sleeps. Much like her Uncle.

Nic is smashing the cancer in the face like a hero but Chemotherapy is total bollocks and no one should have to go through it. There are no cool bits, its awful all the way through. She is nearly at the end of the chemo, all that’s left then is surgery and radiotherapy. She has been and continues to be the bravest and we are all mega proud of her. It turns out she’s hard as nails. Much like her brother…

What I would like to do is raise some money for both Nic as she comes to the end of her maternity leave and cant go back to work and FORCE, which is this cancer charity at Exeter hospital. FORCE have offered her loads of emotional support and information around the clock. The ladies always have a kind word to say to Nic, and just bringing around a cup of tea and biscuit half way through the monotony of chemo is lovely. The worst thing about chemo is that its takes ages and she knows it’s going to make her feel worse, she goes in feeling fine and comes out feeling drunk (bad drunk) and that lasts for a week afterwards, on top of that it kills your immune system so catching a cold can turn really nasty and you develop infections really easily, for example, I thought she was joking, but she currently has an infection in her wrist bone. In the bone! Not nice. The help FORCE have given to Nic has made the process easier and now with all of the nasty symptoms of Chemo they are giving her some different therapies to ease pain as well, so they’re a fantastic charity.

I’m running the Killerton half marathon on the 16th September which is a Cross Country run and it would be great if you could sponsor me. The plan is to split the money down the middle between Nic and FORCE.

My sister has been amazing through all of this, I know everyone always says that, but with having her first baby and then all of this happening in the space of a few months she and her husband Chris have been a force of nature.
