Hi there,
My name is Daphne and I am an adult nursing student almost finishing second year. When I started my degree I had only been in the UK for 3 years which meant that I got my tuition paid, but did not receive a maintenance loan.
Now, in order to survive I work extra shifts in the hospital that I have my placements in. This means that I work 4 12-hour shifts on my placement and on top of that have to work 2 12-hour shifts extra just to barely cover my rent money.
Being at University means the world to me, because I believe that the world needs good nurses. I am an excellent nursing student and I love caring for my patients. The financial side of things are making things incredibly difficult to continue with my degree, however, as I am beginning to struggle with increased workload and increased expectations.
The government has removed the bursary for nursing students, leaving a lot of us to struggle to make ends meet, whilst working for free in the NHS.

I would really appreciate a little help, just so that I can focus on my studies and be the best nurse I can be, which is what my patients deserve.
