Folks,
As many of you know, I have completed in a few cycle events over the last few years. These events have been more about me and how I can challenge myself. This year I have taken on the challenge for an entirely different reason. This year I will cycle the 70 miles around Loch Ness for Blake.

Blake is a friend's 7 year old son who has a rare genetic disease. Although this has been cured in animals, the cure has still to reach humans. Blake's mum has been fundraising for research since Blake was born but now she is having to focus more on fundraising for Blake himself. As his health deteriorates, his needs are becoming more intense. His mum pays for a variety of therapies and care for him which enhance his limited abilities. The family want to give Blake everything possible to make his life fuller and more comfortable.

Blake was diagnosed at only 3 weeks old and has several serious health complications which include intractable epilepsy, recurrent chest and urine infections. He is exclusively tube fed and during the operation to put the tube in, his bowel died so he had to have a stoma formed.

Sadly, Blake has never reached the milestones that most children reach. He has never sat unaided, crawled, walked and talk. He has never managed solid food and has never done all the fun things like boys his age have done, like play football, climb trees, ride a bike.

Blake has fought back from the brink of death twice. He defied all odds and even the medical and nursing staff were astounded that he pulled through. Blake has a strong will to live and fights hard every single day.

Despite all his limitations and difficulties, Blake never complains and is a placid, content little boy who captures the hearts of everyone he meets.

Blake's strength and bravery will certainly help me on the hills, if you can spare a few £ to help make this little boy's life more comfortable and fuller, I would be very grateful.
