Montse Gomariz has the chance to achieve the European record in 100m butterfly at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Korea. Trained at Club Natació Manresa, she specialized in butterfly. She was champion of Catalonia of 100m butterfly (1987, 1988), 200 m butterfly (1986) and 200 m and 400 m individual style (1986). At the state level, she was the Spanish runner-up in 200m individual style (1986) and 100m butterfly (1988). In 1990 she was awarded the bronze medal of distinguished services from the Spanish Federation for reaching twenty five international performances with the Spanish team. She is the only Spanish woman to have been awarded the UNESCO FAIR PLAYER for a human feat in the world of sport (swimming). After many years of absents, focussing on her family and career, she now has returned to swimming. She has since achieved the Catalonian and Spanish records in masters for 100m butterfly. She has now gained an opportunity for the first time to achieve the European record.

Montse Gomariz tiene la oportunidad de alcanzar el récord europeo de 100m Mariposa en el Campeonato Mundial de Deportes Acuáticos 2019 en Corea. Formada en el Club Natació Manresa, se especializó en mariposa. Fue campeona de Cataluña de 100m mariposa (1987, 1988), 200m mariposa (1986) y 200 m y 400 m estilo individual (1986). A nivel estatal, fue subcampeona española en 200m estilo individual (1986) y 100m mariposa (1988). En 1990 recibió la medalla de bronce de distinguidos servicios de la Federación Española por alcanzar veinticinco actuaciones internacionales con el equipo español. Montse es la única mujer española que ha sido galardonada con el premio FAIR PLAYER de la UNESCO por una hazaña humana en el mundo del deporte (natación). Después de muchos años de ausencia, centrada en su familia y su carrera profesional, ahora ha vuelto a nadar. Desde entonces ha logrado los récords de Cataluña y España en masters para 100m mariposa. Montse, ahora ha ganado una oportunidad por primera vez para alcanzar el récord europeo.
