    Story

    Hi!

If you're from one of the 100+ groups who took my quiz last year, welcome back and if you're new then welcome to you too. Where have you been the last 15 years and can you please tell me the secret to surviving the festive season WITHOUT a quiz?!?

After another ghastly year current affairs wise, it's proven even more important than ever to find causes doing good things for the world. I've chosen to fundraise for the 4 charities below and I hope you'll be happy to support them. And if you're not, ermmmm next year you can suggest alternative ones.

So- the next step- if you're going to be the quizmaster, please make a donation of anything from £5-£10 upwards in exchange for the 2018 quiz. Once I see your donation on this fundraising page, I'll email you the quiz. If you make your donation anonymously, please send me a message (email me on debbiedoesquizzes@gmail.com, message me or even go ahead and CALL ME!!), and I'll add you to the list. If you're attending a quiz, and not being the quizmaster, then just thanks so much for your donation and I won't send you anything.

Some more info about the charities:

    1) Grief Encounter http://www.griefencounter.org.uk

Grief Encounter is one of the UK's leading charities supporting bereaved children, young people and their families following the death of a parent or sibling. An astonishing 1 in 29 children in the UK under 16 years old will suffer the death of a parent. Bereavement is devastating at any age, but for a child it is beyond tragic and truly unimaginable. The emotions experienced by a child are deeply confusing and the affects can be life altering and long lasting.

Grief Encounter offers therapeutic services to support children, young adults and their families following a bereavement. Examples of their services include such one to one counselling, family sessions and group therapy, away days, retreats, workshops around key dates in the year, such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Remembrance Day.

    2) Bloody Good Period www.bloodygoodperiod.com

Bloody Good Period was started by Gabby Edlin, who decided something needed to be done to create a sustainable flow (pun intended) of sanitary products for those who can't afford to buy them. What started as a whip-round on Facebook is now a growing enterprise with a vision to end period poverty. They supply 16 asylum seeker drop in centres based in London and Leeds, and their ambition is to supply many more food banks and drop-in centres across the UK, so that everybody has the right to a bloody good period!

    3) The Trussell Trust https://www.trusselltrust.org/

The Trussell Trust runs a network of over 420 foodbanks, which work out of more than 1,200 centres across the UK and provide emergency food to people referred for support. In the last year their network gave 1,332,952 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis.

    4) Future Dreams https://futuredreams.org.uk/

Future Dreams provide support, awareness and research for those touched by breast cancer. Services include support of Breast Cancer Haven, which provides free one to one support in various locations; working towards educating women to be breast aware and informed correctly to look out for any changes; and helping to fund research projects with Breast Cancer Now, focusing on secondary breast cancer.
