    Story

I was in a relationship for over 10 years during that time my partner became adicted to online gambling. He used to gamble as a stress releif to esape everyday problems.

it got so bad at times that he would spend all of his wages on payday on gambling.

We then found ourselves in a position where we would not be able to afford to pay the bills or mortgage. We had to take our payday loans, which eventually made things worse as we got trapped in a spiral of payday botrowing.

We eventually went onto a debt management plan. This made things even worse as it damaged our credit scores, which meant for any future loans were high interest.

My partner carried on gambling which meant we had to borrow more to pay the bills again.

Me and my partner broke up in sepember 2017, I’ve been left with £20k of personal debt that im having to repay at almost £700 a month with 30-50% interest.

I should have left my ex sooner and shouldnt have taken on extra debts when we were together but thats what you do in a relationship; you stick together and help each other out.

In the UK there is a massive gambling problem, following the credit crunch, there developed an issue with payday loans and gambling was sold as an attractive way to “get rich quick”

Constant advertising on TV glamourising Gambling as a way to get rich has caused massive problems for thousands of families.

The trust horror or how massive the issue is has been shown this week with the announcement that the director or Bet365 earned £265million this year!! Just a few seconds of her wages is the equivalent of my debt!!

I want to establish a charity to help those affected by gambling to find counselling to fight their addiction as well as make grants to them to help relief their debts to help them get on with their lives.
