Graham Jones age 70 has lived in Shinfield most of his life and due to ill health used to use a mobility scooter to get around until the other day when it broke.
I saw a Face Book Post by him on our local site about it and decided I'd really like to try to help him retain his independence. As we'd never met I arranged for him to come to visit me so that I could have a chat about setting up a fundraising page. His friend and neighbour Carol brought him to my house and we spent a couple of hours chatting about all sorts 😊 He said he felt guilty about asking for help but I reassured him that anyone who donated would be doing so out of kindness and generosity and how a few people had already expressed an interest ( in fact my own daughter has already given me a donation).
I really think that if the local community get together on this we can show once again what village life is all about - caring for your neighbours. Would you please all try to help me.
As I said earlier. Graham and I have never met but during our chat this morning we discovered that in April 1980 after the birth of our twin daughters. My husband and I moved into 42 Gorse Ride South Finchampstead. It turns out Graham and his wife had just moved out of there to live in Roycroft Lane Finchampstead. Now I know who to blame for the dreadful wallpaper 🤣
