I am Dirk, a truck driver and life long Northampton Saints Supporter. I met Rob Horne in the pre season 2017-18 and was very excited to hear that he signed for the Saints. I quickly built up a friendship with him, to the extent where he called me his lucky charm. When I heard that he had been made captain of my beloved Saints against Leicester I was looking forward to the game against our local rivals only to see Rob go down in the first few minutes of the game with a life changing injury. I am now determined to do all I can to help Rob so I have decded to row from Dover to Calais, a distance of 27.21 miles X 10 times on a concept 2 rowing machine, so that’s 272.1 miles. I will undertake this challenge from September 15 to October 15th 2018. I am a member of the Nuffield gym, based at the Sainsbury’s Pineham Park Depot and they will be monitoring and verifiying my rowing distance.
