I will be going to Sri Lanka for four weeks where I will learn how cross-cultural factors impact upon mental health access and treatment. As a volunteer, I will take part in projects to promote positive mental health amongst a local community, as well as attend weekly workshops about creative therapy, trauma etc from a Sri Lankan perspective, along with many more activities. I will also be residing with a local family during my time there, in order to completely immerse myself in another culture. This will help me gain valuable Psychology work experience - 40+ hours of practical experience and training, working 5 days a week.
