My name is Donna and I work as a Specialist Unit Manager in a mainstream secondary school. I work to support students on the autistic spectrum and those who experience simlar difficulties. A difficult but extremely rewarding job.
A student of mine has been fundraising be able to take part in an expedition to Kenya, through Camps International, in the summer holidays 2019.
This a charitable working expedition, it's purpose is to work in rural deprived areas of Kenya on various conservation projects, it includes working with locals & school children, building projects, reforesting & helping maintain elephant deterrents.
This is an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity but
unfortunately due to
circumstances beyond the our control, student is unable to take part in the expedition unless he has staff member accompanying him.
The student has already been working hard to raise money towards funding the trip and if this opportunity was taken away from him the chances of him ever being able to be involved in such a fantastic life experience would be extremely minimal.
I have therefore committed to support him and agreed to be his 1:1.
This is going to be an amazing experience for me also, but I am doing this to allow this student to be able to have this life experience in something most wonderful, unforgettable and hopefully a little life changing.
Aswell as the student needing to fundraise £4000 for himself, I now have to fundraise £3000 for me to cover the costs and accompany this student, for him to be able to still go. We have a year to do this which sounds alot but it really isn't. Some of this fundraising will be individual and some together.

We are both willing to work very hard to make this happen but please if you can help, donations, no matter how big or small, would be greatfully received and whole heartedly appreciated
