My father decided to work in Ghana in the early 60's to try and better my family's way of life as his prospects here were limited as the shipbuilding industry had started to decline so our family (my mother and brother and myself) made the move with him and spent 3 years in the town of Tema where the main port is. My brother and I were both in primary education at this time but it soon became clear that the schools that were an option for us would not be able to offer a level which would be beneficial for our future so the decision was made that my mother,brother and myself would return home to Scotland and my father would remain.

That was then and it is only within the last few years that my brother and I have returned to Ghana resulting in us getting involved with a charity which supports education within the Accra area of Ghana . This charity is called Mawuvio's Outreach Programme - please Google !.

I am aware that there is an issue dealing with charities and what percentage of the money donated actually reaches the cause due to wages ,administration etc. but the difference with this appeal is that I will personally be visiting the school in question in late November of this year and overeseeing the purchase and installation of a badly needed water tank which will make a big difference to the quality of life for the children at the school in the form of clean drinking water, sanitation etc.

Please be aware that any money raised will be used specifically for the purchase and installation of the water tank and NOT for my travelling or any other expenses which I may incur which are all self funded.

ANY donation towards this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated and basically the more that can be raised will determine what size of tank can be bought and installed.
