    Story

We adopted "Dotty" on 1st October from Bath Cats & Dogs Home (Charity) at the age of 8 weeks after she was found abandoned on a farm in Wiltshire at 6 weeks old. She had obvious issues with her back legs and this meant she was unable to run or even move normally. After we asked the dogs home about the plan to treat her legs we were advised that all treatment/operations involving her back legs would be covered by the dogs home and we have since seen two specialists and one of them asked for a CT scan to be done before a treatment plan could be decided. I passed this information on to the dogs home who replied to say that her treatment would cost many thousands of pounds and they were not willing to fund this treatment (this is before even knowing the extent of the treatment required). Dotty is insured but the policy will not cover her back legs as this is an existing condition. This only leaves one option and that is to put her to sleep. She is a fun loving puppy and is it really heartbreaking to think of her being put down because Bath Cats & Dogs Home have decided to go back on their word to help her and only offered palliative care. This is Dotty's final chance so I thought I would give this a try. The cost of any operation is unknown but it is suggested that it would cost £4-5,000 per leg. Please help us, help her.

We are monitoring her progress and we are collecting more Metacam for ongoing pain relief and will have monthly appointments with Ian McQueen at McQueens vet. We will use donations to keep her comfortable and there are a few purchases that are required and lots of running around to do. Thank you all

In regards to our next steps...We havent got many options open and she is struggling more with mobility, in fact, she is limping around as I type this. She is getting pain relief but I have now had to contact the vet to find out about having her put to sleep. This is very upsetting for everyone who knows Dot, its just gutting.

Dear Supporters of Dotty! I thought I would send you a quick update on whats happening. We visited Rosemary vets on Friday last week to speak to the consultant/surgeon and someone from Bath Cats & Dogs Home also attended. This was a meeting to discuss the results of the previous weeks CT scan on Dotty's back legs. Unfortunately, as expected, the news was not good. The operation would cost £6-7000 PER leg and there would be less than a 50% chance it would be successful due to the movement of ligaments and tendons. This is sad news indeed.
