On July 23rd, Saddle Dam D collapsed causing widespread destruction and homelessness in the Attapeu Province of Lao. 5 billion cubic litres of water flooded the region, washing away entire villages, killing at least 36 people and displacing more than 6,000. Official government figures report 131 people still missing, however charities working in the area suggest it’s more likely to be in the thousands.

Laos is home to one of our key supplier factories. They produce around 2,400 pairs of shoes for us per day and currently have around 900 workers. Our partnership with them is hugely important and as we have grown in size, so have they. The employees at CKL have been collecting donations to help their home country and we want to support them by also providing a donation of our own.

Your money will go to the Thai Red Cross who are working hard to dispatch relief kits, rebuild destroyed villages and mobilise support boats. £32 will provide one relief kit containing rice, canned food, medicine, mosquito repellent, a torch, candle, lighter, iodized salt and bin bags. 4,500 kits have been sent so far, but thousands more are still needed.
