    Story

In May 2019, I will be travelling to Uganda to volunteer with Street Child for 6 weeks and I need your help!

Uganda is the largest refugee-hosting country in Africa and the third largest worldwide. The country has received more than 1.2 million refugees, forced to flee their homes, livelihoods and education as a result of protracted conflict, horrific human rights violation and instability in the region.

More than 60% of Uganda’s refugees are under the age of 18 and 57% of school-aged refugee children are out of school. A further 15,000 Ugandan children are living and working on the streets, missing out on their childhood and education

Since their launch in 2008, Street Child has worked with more than 53,000 children, helping to break down the barriers preventing them from going to school

Street Child began their work in Uganda in January 2018, working alongside local partners to help over 5,000 refugee children access an improved quality education.

Projects have included: construction of two primary schools, implementing teacher training programmes and providing child protection training in Palabek refugee settlement.

I am grateful for any contribution towards my fundraising target, not matter how big or small. 100% of all funds raised will go directly to Street Child.
