I came to the Algarve for a relaxing beach holiday and as always I fed as many of the stray cats as I could. By the rubbish bins near my apartment I came across this young grey and white kitten one day that was not only hungry but seemed desperate for human interaction. I decided to name him/her Pera after the area.

Over the two weeks Pera started to trust me and allow me a gentle stroke - a little cry would greet me on arrival and playing with a blue piece of string then lying on it as if it was a token to remember me by became the usual routine.

Stray cats often appear 'cute' to visitors but it is a hard and short life for them and there are many to save. Pera opened something up within me and I would love for him/her to have a forever home with me in England.

Pera is young still and has the joyfulness and curiosity of any young cat and it is my wish to rescue Pera befoe the ravages of street living take those qualities away.

Funds raised would be to cover a return visit to Portugal before the end of the Summer season and veterinary care including health checks, injections, microchipping, pet passport etc and return journey to the UK together. If funds remain they will be donated to Animal Rescue Algarve.
