Story
In December 2 staff nurses and 2 auxiliary nurses from Glasgow Royal Infirmary burns unit have taken annual leave from our posts and volunteered to travel to Ghana with our burns consultant to help deliver his burns course to the nursing staff in Accra.
Burns are the scourge of Ghana and represent a huge portion of the workload for the plastic surgery and burns unit at Korle Bu teaching Hospital. Some 45% of the hospital’s burns patients are children
During our time there we will also be working alongside the nursing staff within the hospital and passing on our knowledge of burns care.
We are currently trying to raise money towards our flights to Ghana. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
