Toca Do Coehlo was and is a beautiful permaculture project in the mountains of portugal. They welcome artists, thinkers and all people any shape or size - even little like me - to come and be part of creating in this magical space. If you werent a dab hand at planting, that didnt matter- Rabbit would share his knowledge and skills. You would be taught about the magical uses of plants by Sofee or hear her soft trilling tones floaing through the trees (or mine when i was spendig time up in trees pretending to be a bird) If you ever felt down you could play with Anu and Yuki the pups, or climb trees with the cats. Sara was always at hand to inspire you with her etherial creations and Danny was often there bringing the true grit essex vibes. These were just some of the general goings on, this does not even begin to describe the cast of clever creative international creatures who travelled to Toca to from Amsterdam, Israel, France and more. Sadly in August temperatures reached crazy levels and we lost all the work of growing, planting, built toilets and decking, sculptures, indian fabrics and musical instruments. My crocodile onesie and canadian moccasins were burbt away too (clearly as important...jk) ! Toca was a place of welcome and the next incarnation of it will be INCREDIBLE ! We will paint, make sculptures and music, we will grow trees and feast from the land. To transition to this point will be tough and so i ask you, my friends and family, this year instead of buying anything material or coming to the pub to share a pint for my birthday— put the price of a birhday card or cocktail toward the community that chaned my life for the better and will be able to be supported and be ready to do this again one day in future through you guys now.
