We walk passed a house most days on our dog walks. We initially thought the house was derelict due to the condition of it. By the looks of the inside (from what we can see) the items in the house look very old and worn. The window frames are wood which over time have rotted causing the glass to fall out, leaving holes in the sides of the house.

We were recently in our local pub and we got talking to a man who informed us the house is indeed occupied. There is a 78 year old man who lives there, he doesn't have any family and relies on donations of food, money and clothes from neighbors to help see him through. When we asked about the gentleman's windows the pub goer confirmed what we had thought, the wood has rotted away leaving nothing to support the glass, he has attempted to board up his windows with whatever he could find but a lot of cold still gets through. This morning i woke up and it was -4 degrees, all i could think about was this elderly gentleman freezing cold in the depth of English winter.

We want to try and help this man in anyway we can.

We started a Whatapps group this morning with a group of friends, we explained about the elderly man and everyone wanted to do something to help. We have decided to climb Mount Merrick in Scotland on 1st June 2019. We don't really have a target as such, we want to make as much as we possibly can and hopefully it would cover him for new double glazing windows for his home.
