I am aiming to raise money to assist with the purchase of my former university boat clubs boats, so that they can continue to be used by members and thefore guarantee the future of the club both  in the short term and long term.

I am currently the head coach at my former university boat club and I am working on delivering a successful rowing program that encourages students to try a sport that they may never have considered due to the stigma surrounding rowing being an elitist sport.

The university sports department recently informed me that they will have to sell off a couple of the boats as they need to raise funds to cover the rising cost of delivering the overall sports program. While it is great they want to deliver successful sports programs it would be a shame for it to come at a cost to the boat club.

As a club we currently have 30+ members and just about enough boats to give people the chance to row, however if the university sells a few of the boats I will no longer be able to provide people with the opportunity to row. As the coach I feel that if the opportunity to row disappears people will lose interest and the club will eventually be no more.

In previous years the boat club has had success both here in the UK and abroad, we have had crews win at women Henley, women head of the river, BUCS regatta and we have also had rowers go on to train with the national setup, while we aren't as successful as that now, we as a club and i as a coach would like to push us in that direction again, and that is why I feel this equipment is so important.
