Hi! My name is Fiona and I live in London, UK. I am currently a full time student, so money is a bit tight (as you can imagine). That‘s why I set up this page to try and help my mother raise some money for her spinal surgery which her doctor suggested needs to be done quite urgently.

Here in the UK, we often take surgery for granted, without truly understanding the financial cost. Indeed we are fortunate to have a health system that, in most cases, doesn't demand payment for life saving surgery.

This is not the case in Kenya, where my mum,  Consolata lives in a small village in western Kenya called Migori. For several years, she has had problems with her spine. Over the years, she has learnt to cope with the pain and discomfort. However, she has recently started to lose feeling in her feet. Her Doctor has advised that she needs urgent surgical intervention to avoid potential paralysis of her lower body.

The cost of this surgery is £5,000. My mum Consolata lives a modest life and retired some years ago. She simply does not have this sort of money and is relying on the generosity of friends and family both here in the UK and in Kenya.
