Story
Repairs following a break-in and improved security at All Saints, East Horndon
All Saints, East Horndon, is a much loved historic redundant church (grade 2* listed) near Brentwood, in Essex. Its red brick walls and tower stand proudly on the hill overlooking the A127 and a small group of volunteers run open days, concerts and plays here to make use of this fantastic building in respectful ways, and to invite the local community in. On the 2nd of December we had 70 visitors enjoying "A Christmas Carol" which was amazing.
OMG this production was fantastic, we thoroughly enjoyed it! ... What a great way to make use of these beautiful old atmospheric buildings too! The music was great and enhanced by the acoustics of the Church. Merry Christmas to all of the cast! 👏😊
Recently though we have been the victim of vandalism and criminal damage, with windows broken last year, a break-in last month which damaged the locks at a cost of £700 (just been fixed) and now another break in, which has completely destroyed the door. Nothing was stolen, as there is nothing of value in the church, but the costs of these repairs are crippling us and the Churches Conservation Trust, who also look after 350 other such churches in the UK.
Please help us raise the funds needed to cover the cost of the repairs following the break-in from the 5th of December and to help us improve security at this much loved local landmark. :)

5 years agoSorry for the delay in an update on the destroyed door at All Saints, East Horndon, which took place in December last year. Sadly due to the listed nature, the security requirements, the time and workmanship involved, the new door will be £2,000 inclusive of VAT. We have so far raised just over half of that (£1,131 in total) which will be sent to the Churches Conservation Trust to be put aside for the new door, and we will have to continue fundraising to get the full amount. Thank you for all your help so far! 🙏🙏🙏

5 years agoHere an example of the kind of events the church is used for, a recent concert by "India Electric Co" - who also currently tour with Midge Ure as his band "Electronica". Help us reopen the church and host more events like this for the local community by donating towards repairs to the ruined door. 🙏 Thanks for those who have donated already, much appreciated :)

It's a lovely church. My grandparents and uncle are buried and my parents were married there, so is special to our family.
