    Story

Our inspiration to give back to our NHS all started in a local supermarket. Myself & my partner (Lewis) was standing in front of a NHS nurse in a long ASDA shopping queue. Due to the current nationwide 'panic buying in supermarkets' situation, the queue was fairly long. This was how me and my partner managed to overhear the NHS nurses talking to her mother about how tiering her shifts have been. On this same day, a viral video of Dawn Bilbrough hit the headlines. She was an NHS nurse who was crying on camera and begging people to not panic buy in hospitals, as there was nothing left for the NHS workers to buy as they are serving long shifts to save the public lives when produce hits the shelves. It was a video that touched many of the public hearts, including myself and my partner's.

It was at this point we overheard there was a nurse standing behind us and she was expressing how hard her day was and that she couldn't get many of her essentials. We grabbed a quick box of chocolates and paid for it when we reached check out. We then went over to the nurse, whom was very confused, and gave her the chocolates with little words. We just simply said ''this is for you for all your hard work''. The nurse immediately started crying and started to tell us how this means so much to her and no one has done anything like this to her. She hugged us and told us she will remember us for the rest of her life. On the journey home, following them powerful words and her reaction, we decided we wanted to try and do this for a few more nurses at the very least, as it would most likely warrant the same reaction. If we could replicate this for those on the frontline fighting a global pandemic then it would put some community spirit back into the crippling crisis the NHS is currently facing.

We raised over £500 overnight from colleagues, family and friends to buy fresh fruit, vegetables and Easter eggs for the frontline staff in Queen's hospital in Romford and King George hospital in Ilford. Both of us took to the local farm shop and ASDA stores to buy over 450 Easter eggs and 250 kg worth of fruit and vegetables for the two hospitals with the assistance of two great friends. On arrival we met the site managers and gave out some of the Easter eggs to the NHS staff.

We also would like to step our next project to supply to some NHS patients, whom due to quarantine, and isolation cannot see their families, and new mothers are unable to see their babies. Because of this we are trying to get together any devices with video capabilities to allow patients to stay connected to their families in their most vulnerable times. Inspiration for this has come from this tweet Technology Devices Needed!

If you have a preference during your donation on what you would like your money to go towards to, e.g. NHS supplies or technology devices, please state this in your donations comment.

We have already raised another £200 to do the same for the new temporary hospital in the excel exhibition centre once we have clearance to deliver! Please continue our great support initiative by donating as much as you can and treat our local NHS staff members to the least they deserve! All donations go straight to buying these gifts and necessities for the truly amazing frontline NHS staff who are continuing to save our lives from this deadly virus daily.
