CZESNIKA TO CAPEL IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS.

I'm aiming to run the 1540km (957 miles) distance from Czesnika to Capel in time for Christmas - only 115 days away (distance only...I couldn't justify 3months off work!). This averages out at 13.4km (8.3 miles) per day.

As someone that has grown up having the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from many sporting activities, and then pursuing a career as a PE teacher, I fully advocate the importance of physical activity and sports for all. The driving force behind my career choice was to provide opportunities and make a difference to young people, through the medium of sport.

However, throughout my work in many different schools, towns and countries over the years, it has been evident that there are certain barriers to being able to make this change for all the young people and communities I have come across. The charities that I have chosen to support epitomise the values and ethos that I wholeheartedly believe in and strive to help make an impact.

The choice to complete the distance from Czesnika (my current street in Warsaw, Poland) to Capel (home street in UK) comes from the two charitable causes that I wish to support, as they have great impact on communities that I have been involved in. The Arka Foundation in the Praga District, Warsaw is working in a deprived area where poverty and lack of opportunity is prevalent for young individuals. It aims to support the community to improve well being and links within the wider area. With this fundraising I aim to support the continuation of the Football programme, established last year and supported by TBS, Warsaw.

The second charity I wish to donate to is the Shepway Sports Trust, who do fantastic work bringing together various groups within the community, giving them accessible opportunities to participate in a range of sports and activities. They have provided countless students I have taught with valuable and memorable sporting experiences.
