Story
Two friends, Richard and George, shall run further than they ever have done before, in the Bath Half Marathon (March 12th), all for charity. Our goal is to raise a lot of money to be split 50/50 between our charities: The Project & MacMillan. Below is more information about the charities and why we chose them. Thank you to everyone for your support.
The Project (theprojectyp.org.uk) is a peer support network for young people (age 13-24) with mental health issues, and their parents/carers. Fortnightly peer support groups are held in Axminster, Devon and in Chard, Somerset for each age group (13-18, 18-24), providing a space for the young people to spend time with others in a friendly and creative social environment. The Project also hold a monthly support group for parents & carers, as well as going into schools to raise awareness of mental health. I have experienced mental health issues throughout my life and having the support from peers around me helped me to overcome these struggles. As a volunteer for The Project, I get to see first hand the incredible work they do and i'm honoured to help out in any way I can. [Richard]
Macmillan is a collection of supporters, professionals and campaigners who assist and improve the lives of millions of people living with cancer every year. They produce award winning information on types of and treatments for cancer, managing symptoms and advice for living with cancer. Most important though is their investment in the emotional well-being of those living with cancer, giving them the stability and inspiration to take control of their lives again. My father was diagnosed with cancer in 2015. Right from his diagnosis, Macmillan Cancer Support nurses were present, providing information and emotional guidance. They were also a great support to my mother, sister and I throughout my father’s illness. I have chosen to raise money for MacMillan to help them provide even more support to everyone affected by cancer. [George]

8 years agoLast day of the campaign! Getting ready to head off for the inflatable 5k run in a minute. Please encourage anyone who hasn't donated yet to do so. If we raised just £2 more, then both charities would get at least £500 each once Justgiving take off their 5% fee. Thank you to all who have donated so far :)

8 years agoThank you to everyone who has donated so far! Training is going well for both myself and George. I am starting to feel a lot more comfortable with the longer distances and managing to stay injury-free (history of Achilles tendinitis and shin splints means this is a big deal for me), and George has been crushing his long distance runs and getting closer and closer to reaching that 21.1km goal. Please continue to share our page with friends and family and encourage them to donate :) thanks again

8 years agoPage is now live! Please donate to our two good causes. I am also running an inflatable 5k race on April 1st, hence why our fundraising ends of April 2nd. This also means you can consider donating extra once we've actually done the half marathon! Thanks for your support.
