As a tandem fundraiser for 'Assynt Mountain Rescue' and 'Sutherland Women's Football Club's 2023 Highlands & Islands season, some of the Sutherland Women's Football Club will be cycling the Sutherland circuit. This loop totals approximately 250 miles. This will be to raise money for ongoing costs such as transport, training facilities, equipment etc. The challenge also serves as a recruitment drive for our junior and senior teams - let us know if you want to join our squad - we'd love to welcome you!

Assynt Mountain Rescue Team is one of 25 mountain rescue groups across Scotland. We're available for rescues 365 days a year, 24 hours a day! We work closely with the HM Coastguard Search & Rescue (SAR) helicopters and police. We also work with other agencies: the RAF, RNLI, ambulance service and cave rescue. We cover an area of around 7500sqkm or 4660sq miles. To put that into perspective, it's 4.5 times the area of Skye or Greater London, and about 10% the total area of Scotland.

As a team member for both Assynt Mountain Rescue and Sutherland Women's Football, I can confirm that both sides are full of supportive, dedicated folk who are deserving of your support in words and in vital funds!

We hope to cycle the route just before our season begins at the end of March 2023! If weather conditions are not kind to us we may have to delay to the July break where we get a few weeks off from the football league! Please donate generously!
