    Story

Thank you so much for visiting our page to learn more about our appeal.

As many of you will know, Thorley Cricket Club has and continues to be an important part of our local community. Over the years we have seen growth and expansion, all with the help of passionate and loyal club members and our Thorley neighbours.

With the intention of our current clubhouse to be only temporary, we now find ourselves with endless possibilities but nowhere to facilitate them. With your help, we are now hoping to build a brand new clubhouse for the whole community to enjoy!

    A little about us...

Thorley Cricket Club was established in 1911 and has been playing on Parish Council land, gifted by the Streeter family, since the mid-1950s. We have around 40 adult members playing league and friendly cricket, and established our youth section in 2008 coaching just 10 children.

At the height of our success (and before Covid!) we coached over 100 children (boys and girls) every summer aged 7 and up. As well as professional coaching, all age groups play league cricket appropriate to their age. Thorley Cricket Club is ECB Clubmark accredited with trained coaches, first aiders and a welfare officer.

With a new clubhouse, we will be able to continue with our coaching and matches, as well as develop a brand new ladies side and host more community sessions for local charities such as Grove Cottage (who have come to us before). It will also mean we can continue to hire out our grounds to other local sporting groups such as Little Hadham Cricket Club and the Stortford Stags volleyball team.

While we have worked incredibly hard to raise the current amount of £95,000, we still desperate need your support. By supporting us, you can be a part of making a huge difference to your community and grassroots sports.

    Thank you!

You really need a rich benefactor in the local community to help with this. How about our local landowners that have made millions by selling off land for housing development.
