Story
ourYsgol Bryn Elian is challenging you to MAKE A DIFFERENCE in our local community. We have been recently working with a charity called Business2Schools, who recognise that the infrastructure in schools needs t o be improved through targeting businesses to donate technology and furniture to improve the quality of the education that are students receive. Together we aim to develop sustainability and reduce the impact we have on the environment by gathering community spirit and using donations to improve opportunities, whilst achieving the school's motto of ‘achievement for all.’
I am, therefore, writing to challenge you to contribute in any shape or form, be it through a financial donation, donating a product or service towards a raffle/auction, or fundraising in your own way (get creative), all which will contribute to raising funds. We intend that the money raised will be shared three ways; a community project in Old Colwyn, donation's to charities, and also the school.
We have been fortunate enough to encourage businesses to be sustainable by donating some pieces of equipment, including technology that has no longer been required by businesses, which has contributed to us being able to modernise parts of the school – and also develop some of our feeder schools. This includes upgrading 140 PC's, 130 laptops, 150 monitors, teacher chairs, library and the 6th form room in Ysgol Bryn Elian, over 80 PC's in Ysgol Eirias, and 150 PC's to other schools in the area - there is still a lot of work to be done! As a wider project, I am trying to make a difference in the school and community environment. As a result, we are hosting a ‘make a difference day’, in school, on September the 17th to raise money which will go to charities, the local community, and the school improvements.
In the build-up to the day, we will also be encouraging students to think of ways to fundraise money, so that they can contribute to making a difference to the community they live in as well as parents and business owners.
We appreciate that this is a big ask, but in the attempt to bring the community together, it would fantastic for us all to contribute to improve opportunities for all and make a difference.
