In September 2008, John Honney and a team of 14 runners will be competing in the Berlin Marathon to raise much-needed funds for the Cambodia Trust. John is a former Trustee who is now working with us in Cambodia, promoting the rights of disabled people from grass roots to government level. John says:
"I joined the Cambodia Trust's Board in March 2006, after returning from a year off to undertake voluntary work as a death row lawyer in America and advising the Cambodia Trust and several other NGO's in Phonm Penh.
"I am an amputee myself and I understand the importance of rehabilitation for landmine survivors and other disadvantaged disabled people. In September 2008, I am leading a group of my family and friends running for the Cambodia Trust in the Berlin marathon. Please sponsor our team and help support the Trust's good work!"
By supporting John and his team you can offer a helping hand out of poverty to disabled people in Cambodia. People like Vandet - shown in the photo on the left - who was born with one leg. As a child with a disability, Vandet couldn't go to school or play with his friends. Now, with rehabilitation and support from the Cambodia Trust, he's enjoying school and playing football with his mates. Our staff have given him and his family hope for the future - but they couldn't do this without the support of people like John and his running team.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor the runners: the Cambodia Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor Team Running Honney now - and pass this link on to your friends!
Many thanks for your support. The Cambodia Trust
