The Back Up Snowdon Push 2012 · 7 July 2012

Back Up services include mentoring, wheelchair skills training and activity courses as well as support in getting back to work or school after an injury. We provide peer led tailored support to help people adjust to a spinal cord injury and inspire independence and confidence for a positive future.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We are looking for sponsors as 14 of us are taking part in the Snowdon Push for the Back Up charity. 13 of us will be pulling one wheelchair user up Mount Snowdon, which is over 3500ft high, it consists of pushing, pulling, climbing and walking over 8 miles of mixed terrain. It will be tough but also amazingly satisfying. We are looking to raise over £3000 pounds which will enable one person with a spinal cord injury to attend a life changing back up course.

The wheelchair user we are taking up and down the mountain is Richard Cooke, he is a work colleague of mine and also a very good friend. He has inspired me to do this as he in a bit of an inspiration, Richards life changed nearly 4 years ago when he suffered a serious accident at work which would leave him paralysed from the waist down, being 26 at the time it was a very hard time for Richard, just married, young family, unlike many in that position, he didn’t wollow, Richard didn’t let this disability get in his way and he lives life to the max, everyone that meets him is blown away by the sheer determination he has to live a normal life. He enjoys a night out, working on his family’s farm and spending time with his family, one of his main achievements since the accident was taking part in a skiing trip in Colorado. He achieved his goals with the help of his loving wife, family, the help of people from the trust and friends.

Our goal is to raise money to send someone on what could be a life changing course and get them the determination to lead a normal life as possible and let them know they are not alone. Please give whatever you can to this amazing cause.

Thank you

A Higgins
