Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

WE have completed the ride. It was a great adventure and worth the sweat and pain. Thanks to everyone who supported us and contributed to the charities.

A special thank you to our sponsors including GARMIN UK Ltd, for the loan of a cycling GPS. Also Boating Business (www.boatingbusiness.com) and City Cycles (Chichester)

Cycle 4 children is a charity cycle ride and we are attempting to cycle 300 miles down the length of France. From one famous sailing city Portsmouth, UK to another La Rochelle, France.

We (Kieran, Ben(16) and Henry (15)) are going to try and cycle 300 miles down the length of France for charity. We will depart, on the 14th July 2010, from Arundel, England and cross from Portmouth to Caen via ferry. From Caen we will cycle on minor roads until we reach La Rochelle. A trip from one great sailing city to another.

We have 'extensive' cycling experience. Kieran once raced in mountain biking national championships (or so he says), Ben once rode a mountain bike to a friends house and left it there for 3 months and Henry recently rode his bike to the local railway station and forgot about it for a week. So we really need to start training.

Our daily mileage target is between 50-70 miles per day until we have reached approximately 300 miles. We will do this unaided.

We are trying to raise money to support both a local and a national childrens charity.

The local charity is the Sussex Snow Drop Trust - whos main aim is to provide care for seriously ill children at home.

The children that the Snowdrop Care at Home Team look after have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses which include cancer, leukaemia, cystic fibrosis, aplastic anaemia, heart, lung, liver and kidney problems, Batten's Disease, Duchene's Dystrophy, Muscular Dystrophy and Sclerosis, Rhett's Syndrome and many other illnesses.  Sometimes a diagnosis cannot be given as the condition is so complex. If you would like to donate to the Sussex Snow Drop Trust please use this dedicated page.

The national charity is the Ellen MacArthur Trust.

The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemai and other serious illness. Sailing is perfect for these children; it gives them a chance to test themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
