Story

Welcome friends, family and supporters! It is official; I am of to Paris on my push bike.   This is not a desperate bid to get to the fashion capital on a budget; I have discovered there is so much more to life than Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

On 1st September I am cycling London to Paris to raise vital funds and awareness for WaterAid.

I came across the WaterAid website towards the end of 2009 and quickly became shocked at the statistics I was reading. Lack of clean, safe drinking water and adequate sanitation is a real killer in the world’s poorest countries. I realised I took far too much for granted in my life and wanted to give a little back in any way I could. Inspired by my Dad's cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats I decided to jump on the saddle and cycle for WaterAid.

1 in 8 of the world’s population do not have access to safe water and 2.6 billion (not a typo, that is with a b) do not have access to adequate sanitation. Diarrhoea kills more children every year than AIDS, malaria and measles combined meaning one innocent child dies every 20 seconds due to unclean water and poor sanitation. The integrated approach of providing water, sanitation and hygiene reduces the number of deaths caused by diarrhoeal diseases by an average of 65%.

I hope you are as shocked at these appalling statistics as I was and you dig deep to support me on my cycle to Paris for a great charity that really is making a difference to people’s lives.

How your donations help:

·         £15 is enough to provide one person with clean drinking water and sanitation.

·         £50 pays for enough cement to protect a spring benefiting 300 people in Uganda

·         £60 pays for the pipes and handpump for a 30ft shallow tubewell for ten families in Bangladesh.

·         £1000 pays for the complete costs of building a 15 meter well, including a handpump to benefit 500 people in Tanzania.

The trip costs have been paid for meaning 100% of your donation will go directly to WaterAid to help End Water Poverty.

Please give all you can!

Thank you
