CYCLE AMERICA: NEW YORK TO SAN FRANCISCO

-4100 Miles
-11 States
-Coast to coast in under 60 days! We plan to depart from New York in May heading south through Washington DC on to Richmond, VA. We will then turn inland cycling across the states of Kentucky, Missouri and Kansas to name a few. The route then takes us over the spine of the Rocky Mountains and onto some of the loneliest roads in America across Utah and Nevada. The trip will finish with the spectacular scene of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. THE CAUSE: GEDO REGIONAL HEALTH PROGRAM, SOMALIA At present, the region faces a multitude of problems: -6th highest global infant mortality rate, at 22.5% (UNICEF, 2002) -High maternal mortality rate -High prevelance of Malaria, Pneumonia, Tuberculosis and malnutrition -Recent sharp rises in mortality from STDs including AIDS With your help AMREF plans to provide community health education, clinical training for nurses and doctors, laboratory services, immunisation programmes and prescription drugs. For more details please visit our web site at www.cycleamerica.org.uk Thank you very much for your support for this worthy cause, From Matt and Phil

Our belief in health as a basic human right drives everything we do. That’s why we work with remote and marginalised communities to find sustainable solutions. We are African-led and therefore our understanding of the communities we work with, and the health challenges they face, is unparalleled.
