MAG - Cycle Somme to Flanders 2010 · 14 July 2010 ·

Every single day, 17 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Almost half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Following an intense training regime and many a saddle sore, in July 2010 I'll be taking part in cycle Somme to Flanders, a 312km ride through the Somme Valley amongst major WW1 battlefields to finish at the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres in aid of humanitarian landmine clearance charity MAG.

My fundraising target of £2000 could pay for a metal detector or provide much needed protective gear - helmets, flak jackets, boots. A donation of any size can help MAG to provide core mine clearance activities around the world and spur me on through three long days of cycling!

As one of the world's leading mine clearance organisations, MAG works to clear landmines and unexploded bombs, making communities safe and allowing people to live without fear. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks for your support.

Joan
