My story

www.cycletheamericas.org

Joff and Joy are going to set off from Halifax in Nova Scotia to cycle more than 20,000 miles though 15 different countries for 20 months to raise money for boys who, by the age of 8, can no longer ride a bike!

IT MUST BE NOTED THAT 100% OF THE MONEY RAISED BY THE PAIR GO TO ACTIONDUCHENNE.

They intend pedalling their bikes through the eastern part of Canada, across the States, and then south, through  Mexico and all of Central America. Then, they'll fly to Ecuador from Panama City. From here, they'll pedal down the western side of South America, visiting Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina, before ending up in Ushuaia, in southern Patagonia. Tired...

If you'd like to follow Joy and Joff, or know more about the route, have a look at their website; www.cycletheamericas.org

Actionduchenne doesn't publicise itself as much as some, because it only has a small budget and it is spent directly on research. From what the pair understand, Duchenne's limited budget is partly a function of a limited public awareness of the disease, and partly a result of being overshadowed by more 'newsworthy' illnesses like Cystic Fibrosis, which currently has 10 times the amount of research being conducted on it. - Please help them to raise the level of awareness and funding of research into this terrible disease.

in Britain, boys with this illness cannot expect to live much beyond their 20th birthday.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN THIS CHARITY.
