Story
In May 2008 we were given the devastating news that our Daughter, Emma had cancer. After numerous tests we were told that she had neuroblastoma which is a rare cancer that mainly affects children.
She underwent intensive treatment which consisted of chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy. Just when we were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and approaching the end of treatment Emma relasped. Unfortunately nothing more could be done and on the 23rd September 2009 Emma passed away.
As keen cyclists we wanted to compete a challenge to raise money to further research this cruel disease. Its been an idea for a couple of years and after repairing Phils knee from a torn ACL hes now fighting fit and we have also brought together a team of us to ride all the red routes of the 7Stanes.
The 7Stanes are a series of trail centres in Dumfries and the Scottish borders. The challenge is not going to be an easy undertaking, requiring a good level of fitness, stamina and bike handling. The trails that will be riden are Newcastleton, Kirroughtree, Dalbeattie, Mabie, Ae, Glentress and Innerleithen. The challenge will be taking place from 24th May - 27th May. Altogether the distance will be 138km and there will be lots of climbing as well as descending to let the legs recover.
This is a cause close to our hearts and it would mean alot if you could sponsor us. Emma was so special and loved the colour pink so if we raise £1500 Sam will dye her hair pink for the ride.
We are raising money for The Neuroblastoma Society as the charities sole purpose is the relief of children suffering from neuroblastoma, and to achieve this it raises funds for medical research into improving both diagnosis and treatment of the disease. The Society also offers an opportunity for parents to give each other mutual help, support and comfort.
