It's now 10 years since I lost my dad to Leukaemia and I'm finally ready to do something to commemorate him and raise some money for the charity fighting to beat blood cancer.

In August this year I will cycle from Dad's birthplace, Graz, Austria, to where his ashes are buried in Melbury Osmond, Dorset. I will ride through the Austrian Alps, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, France and England, covering a distance of approximately 1150 miles. I hope to complete this in 14 days.

Until October 2013 I hadn't ridden a push bike for about 15 years, so this will be a challenge. I'll be updating on the progress of my training on a regular basis so that you can see by the time August comes I should be up to it!

Dad was only 56 when he lost his fight and he and Mum never got to see the retirement that they wanted together.

A loving wife, 2 daughters and his son, 4 grandchildren and countless others whose lives were touched by Dad now move on without the love, guidance and fun that he had to give, and it shouldn't have to be like that.

I've lost a parent and a grand parent to blood cancer, and many of you may well have been through something similar, or you may know someone else who has.

Leukaemia and Lymphoma research will not stop until they beat blood cancer and I want to be part of that. You can help us work towards our goal, and help save people along the way by donating through my just giving page.
